GENERATIVE DIGITAL RIDGE
PHILADELPHIA, PA | SUMMER 2019 | PREPARATORY STUDIO
CRITIC DANIELLE WILLEMS
This project explores non uniformity & organic surface through superimposition. A superimposition which contrasts using a non-organic gridded geometry. Furthering the overlay of uniform on non-uniform, a cavernous interior is revealed through the absence of severe geometric forms. We were initially asked to develop a 2D triptych, convert it to 2.5D by creating a relief from the triptych, and then developing a generative script and image through which to design an artists gallery and residence in Philadelphia.
Our critic for the project asked students to consider aspects of intrinsic versus extrinsic space as well as consider the concept of discreet versus continuous space throughout the process of this project. Another integral part was the physical representation of the triptych through the casting process.
