ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPHY

WASHINGTON, DC | FALL 2017

Photography has been a passion of mine for a long time and I was fortunate enough to take a few elective courses while in school. I dedicated my projects in those courses to photographing some of DC’s architecture. The following are some spreads of a book that I produced color photography as well as two pictures that were included in that book.

I have found that my study of photography has greatly influenced my understanding of light, shadow, form, and composition. The best architecture invokes feeling, and the best photos do the same. Photographing some of these buildings forced me to see the forms as I’m sure the architects who designed them intended them to be seen, and to understand the light and shadow that interact with those forms.

The book itself that I was tasked with producing is large-format. It is designed very simply, with large photographs that allow the beautiful buildings to speak for themselves.
